1.
Go west, go north, just leave your porch, I’m stuck in a still valley. The youth retire and drop their guns, and they dream of Cali. East coast, west coast, both brag and boast, the work of shadow play, and north and south both run their mouths, I think I want to move away. People are alike all over. I left the land of rat subways. They’re so cold and suspicious. In their different clothes, they’re malicious. People are alike all over. I left the land of dim lit stars. They’re so fixed on progression. But if it’s not broken, don’t fix it. I’m “the duck” sitting smiling up at your carbon cloud of pride and muck. I’m “the frag” amongst a million rebel flags, waving on the porch of stubborn hags. The sky’s the limit but we’re all stuck within it. This whole world is a hypocrite. Our ears fall for the lies that our eyes fear. But it takes a mind to wipe away the tear.
2.
There weren’t too many days that we’d spent apart. We had all those years but, where have they gone? Where’s the dirty jokes and the songs that we wrote? Crushes on our teachers, and long sleepless nights. I miss you friend. I wonder what our last words will be, or if they already been lost. I wish that I could save them, I’m sorry I forgot. Like days when, we’d pretend, and time would never run out. It was better then, to be alone with a brother and a friend. Sorry, I forgot. You’re drowning slowly. You’re fading slowly. It’s easy to know the towns we passed, as they burn down, we reflect and ask, “What could’ve been different? Why didn’t it last? Why didn’t I try? What could have amassed?” As you sit back and wonder “where and why?” and think of the words we say in our lives. What words will we speak before we cry? Well, those last words are seldom “goodbye”. “I hope they knew how much they meant to me”, in hindsight that thing is hard to see. When the road you’re on comes to a sudden end and you accept that now you’ve lost a friend. But if you don’t think that they thought of you, before they departed out of view. Then sad will be you when you think of them, but every tick matters of the time you lend.
